m18: Jean/Sindhu/Elliot/Andreas' PW Blog

Monday, September 04, 2006

Elliot, please refer to books, websites, whatever to complete the website. It must be completely done by Term 4, Week 1, Thursday. If you want to, meet up with Andreas to do the website.

Also, please complete the submission procedures, with all the comments that I initially made all responded to, and submit both my original comments and whatever editing you did by the end of the Hols, Sunday, 6pm, to Andreas.

Andreas, add on whatever you think needs to be added on, ensure that the comments are sufficiently responded to, and show it to me on our first PW session back.

Jean and I will work on the surveys for the holidays. We'll edit the WR when it comes back. Jean, I'll buzz you one of these days.

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Okay, guys, here's the deal. We have to pass up our WR (draft one, as it is) on Tuesday, so there's some work that needs to be done. And it needs to be done fast. Andreas and Elliot - both of you have some work that you need to pass to me by Sunday, 6pm. No delays, no excuses, remember? If you don't think that you can get it done by then, don't sleep all of tonight, and pass to me a high-quality piece of work.

I wrote out a new to-do list based on the new format of our WR. Since most of the work is going to be done by Jean and I (she'll be coming over today, see?), I'll just state the things that each of you have to do and talk to Jean personally.

Elliot, you're in-charge of designing the website so we can obtain screenshots. Of course, I understand you can only start working on this on Thursday. Feel free to approach me with any thing (graphics, etc.) that you may need. This one is to do latest by end of September holidays. So you have time.

You're also in charge of figuring out the exact procedure of how people are going to submit their blog articles (Wordpress will be in charge of this), pictures, videos and podcasts. Work out how we're going to integrate it into our website. If we're just going to give people the code, we need to work out all the nooks and crannies. If you need help, feel free to call Kenneth or Mr Chua via Andreas. That means, you will be in-charge of the procedure of summitting whatever, in a flowchart. Ask Andreas for help. Submit this to Andreas by 6pm on Sunday for editing. Subsequently, Andreas submit it to me by 10pm on Sunday, latest. I'm sure four hours is enough to do any extra research you need.

Andreas, I will send you the programmes and services that Elliot has already done. Your duty is to edit it as you see fit. You must also investigate the programme "Base Camp" and evaluate it like how Elliot has evaluated the rest. Send this to me by 6pm on Sunday.

Another thing that you have to do is to investigate the contradiction between Mr Chua and Kenneth Kang. Write down all the things that they contradict each other on, and send this list to me (with quotes for evidence). Call/sms/nudge me to validate your list, then call up Mr Chua and Kenneth Kang to verify. Take down word-by-word what they said, if possible. Or at least, the gist of it. Then, send me this transcript. For this one, you have until 8pm on Tuesday.

Remember, guys, whatever you do, whatever main point you make, substantiate it with evidence and then give me your sources, books, articles, webpages or whatesoever. I also want to repeat: no delays, no excuses, no low-quality work.

All the resources needed have been YSIed to your email and will be available for download for seven days from today.

Alright, we'll be submitting our first draft of our WR (if you consider today's submission as Draft Half) next Thursday. For the amount of things that we have to do, this is simply not enough time at all. Hence, I have selected some of the things from our To-Do list. These are the things that diedie must be done.

Resources Needed: To Do Plan

Each person has been allotted one or more tasks to do. Your name will be in light green beside these tasks. All these must be done (and done well!) by Tuesday, PW, so that I can edit it by Wednesday to include in our Thursday submission of our WR. If you have any doubts, please sms/MSN me ASAP.

Resources Needed: Andreas: Profiles for Mr Chua and Mrs Chan, found in Summary of Interview for each

In light blue are the tasks that we must discuss completely on Tuesday. These are mainly involving Generation of Ideas. We have to discuss GOI for our surveys, website analyis, and two of our interviews. And that's only if Youth.Sg doesn't reply. Please do look through all the interviews so you are prepared for discussion.

Resources Needed: I have yet to edit the summaries for Kenneth Kang and Mrs Chan. I'll try to do it ASAP, hopefully by the end of the weekend, latest, and edit the link here. So watch this space. I'm done! Please check your emails for the summaries of Kenneth Kang, Mrs Chan and Mr Chua. I made changes to all three. Nudge me on MSN if you want the full transcript.

Finally, there are five points in light orange. These are the points that we must discuss completely next Thursday, as we will be including these points in our second WR draft due 29 August. If we have time, we may discuss these on Tuesday, so please look through these as well.

Resources Needed: I know it's terrible, but other than the GP, we can also refer to our Draft Half

Okay, so our first draft of our written report is seriously going to suck. Nevermind, first draft only right? We've got seriously a lot to discuss and stuff... please be prepared to stay until five on Thursday.

This is the basic list of the things that we have to do the written report. Basic, ah. The things that I've already allocated are things that each of us have to do. The things in bold is everything I need by tomorrow, 7pm. Then, I'll do the WR all night and hand it over to Jean at 4am. Okay. 7pm, people. 7pm.

These are the things that must be done by Thursday PW. Some of the things you guys need to meet up... others you need to send to me (so please do that ASAP by Tuesday night if possible. Surveys by Wednesday or Thursday, Kenneth Kang interview ASAP). For the rest of the things, upload onto YSI and then put the link on the blog so we can all edit it if needed.

Elliot and Andreas
Design banner and Zocard. Get ready different preliminary sketches that can be immediately computerized. Sketches can be vastly different or somewhat similar. Or both. :)

Okay, I've finally done the editing and summary of the interview with Mr Chua. Yeah, yeah, I know, slow. And I haven't even done the one with Mrs Chan yet. Maybe I'll do some of it before I go to sleep tonight... or maybe I'll just do it another day.

Anyway, here are the two links. Please download and look through and forward me all the changes that you are making so I can update it. Also, ANDREAS! NUMBER OF YEARS MR CHUA HAS BEEN WORKING AS A TEACHER? The first one is the Edited Transcript. And then there's the Summary of Interview. It's actually supposed to be one appendix lah, but never mind. A.1.1 and A.1.2... like Integration.

Jean,
Survey Results Compilation
There are two sheets - sheet one and sheet three. Sheet one is for JC students - there are 28 so far. Sheet 3 for Secondary School (91). Then just fill up all the columns... for the ranking one, just add together all the numbers for that option. For example, if 28 people choose "Others" as rank 6, then the number you add is 28 x 6. You can use the summation function in Excel, lah. :)

This and this are the new survey formats for our JC and secondary school questions respectively. I suggest you compile all the survey results that you have (excluding the one I send you), and then match each result to the new question.

When you're done, YSI it back to me! :)
